Jon Hammer Takes Over As Manager Of South Whitehall Township


On Monday, August 9, 2010, Jon Hammer took over as the new Manager of South Whitehall Township. The Township Manager of South Whitehall Township is an appointed position authorized by the First Class Township Code of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

The Township Manager is the Chief Administrative Officer of the Township, responsible for the supervision of all activities and all Township Departments. He is also responsible for the preparation and administration of the Township's annual budget.

Hammer has served on the Boards of numerous organizations locally and statewide including: The Allentown Economic Development Corporation, The Allentown Commercial Industrial Development Authority, the Lehigh Valley Convention and Visitors Bureau, The Allentown Parking Authority, The Pennsylvania Municipal Retirement Board, The Allentown Arts Commission, and the President's Council of De Sales University.

Hammer has been awarded ICMA (International City/County Management Association) Credentialed Manager status. ICMA Credentialed Manager status is earned by a combination of education and experience, test taking, and adherence to high standards of integrity, and an assessed commitment to lifelong learning and professional development in local and county government. Hammer is the only ICMA credentialed government official in the Lehigh Valley. Less than 1200 people worldwide have been recognized by the ICMA with this title; and less than 25 government officials in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania are currently credentialed managers.
