Here's what's ahead in South Whitehall Township.

1. New Leadership in South Whitehall. 

Two political newcomers join the South Whitehall Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

The -- Republicans Glenn Block and David Bond -- will be sworn into office for the first time, joining incumbent Dale Daubert, who won re-election in the November general election, and commissioners Tori Morgan and Thomas Johns.

Those passing by the amusement park, which is closed until April, will notice the Stinger as it rises at the amusement park. Riders will sit face-to-face on the inverted coaster and get flipped six times as they go along 1,014 feet of overhead track, forward and backward, at speeds up to 55 mph.

The park also plans "" -- a series of 37 stationary and automated dinosaur figures that will be placed inside a 3.3-acre wooded area of the park.

Construction is expected to get under way in late spring or early summer on a new headquarters for the  and a new Lehigh County Coroner's office. The building will rise on 9 open acres of county-owned land at Broadway and Parkway Road in the township. 

4. New Businesses at Centers

 and YoFresh Yogurt Cafe are expected in the Tilghman Square Shopping Center, while a neighborhood medical center will open in the . St. Luke's Hospital & Health Network also plans to open a one-stop at the former Pennsylvania Expo Center. 

5. New Contract for Parkland Teachers?

The Parkland Education Association has been pursuing a possible with the  administration. The current contract expires this school year.
