"Dark Knight" At Promenade Continues Under More Security
In aftermath of Denver shootings, showings of "The Dark Knight Rises" will continue as planned at Promenade's Rave Cinema under tighter security.

Employees at Rave Cinemas at the Promenade in Center Valley will check bags and backpacks of moviegoers before they enter the ticketing area as a precaution following a mass shooting at a movie theater near Denver.
But a Patch reader posted a comment Friday afternoon saying she went to the movie Friday and nobody was checking bags.
People cannot enter the theater from outside the building via emergency exits, a Rave manager told Patch Friday morning. The emergency exits do not have exterior door handles.
A masked gunman may have used an emergency exit to enter a movie theater and shoot patrons during a midnight showing of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colo., last night. Here's some background on the shooter.
Upper Saucon Police will station two officers at Rave for Friday night's showings, according to a Lehigh Valley Live report.
AMC Tilghman Square in South Whitehall Township declined to comment on security measures but said there is no change in plans to show "Dark Knight" this weekend.
At least 12 moviegoers were killed and about 50 injured in one of the worst mass shootings in U.S. history.

The gunman set off an unknown gas and then fired into the crowd after the midnight show began. Police have the suspect in custody.
Moviegoers didn't know what was happening and some thought the attack was part of the show. Then they saw a silhouette of a person in the smoke at the front of the theater near the screen, pointing a gun at the crowd.
At the local Rave Promenade 16 + IMAX, "The Dark Knight Rises" is on multiple screens with 18 showings scheduled between 12:30 p.m. today and 12:15 a.m., and continuing through the weekend at the height of summer blockbuster season.
Crowds packed the local Dark Knight premiere last night, according to a WFMZ report.
The Colorado shooter - 24-year-old James Holmes - had four guns: an assault rifle, shotgun and two handguns. Holmes was arrested in the theater parking lot. There's no word yet on a motive for the massacre.

thats nice, but this is South Whitehall Patch, what about the Tilghman Square AMC Movie theater, they are showing Dark Knight as well....

Typical overrating. Why not prepare for things that have not yet occurred but are likely to occur (for example: riots when government checks start bouncing) as opposed to reacting to things that did occurred and are far less likely to occur again? Oh that would make too much sense I guess and might make people to do the opposite of what Government wants them to do. (for example: the public might demand that people keep their right to own guns instead of screaming for more restrictions on them)

I do not know what to think, it is such a shame that some one would even consider committing such a horrendous act on innocent people, I feel so sad right now about the whole scenario, after watching the videos in the Hellertown patch. I hope the person in custody gets what he deserves,at the highest extent of the law.I pray for all the victims that were in the theatre. I guess I would be afraid to go to the Batman movie, even though I would like to see it. Vida Frankenfield

If someone really wants to do something evil they will find a way to do it. This would not have stopped the gun man. He propped the exit door open and got the stuff from his car and re-entered. Just a way to make ourselves feel better and inconvenience the law abiding people in this world!

It was a horrific event in Denver but extra security at all the movie theaters is ridiculous. I just came from seeing Dark Knight at the Rave. There were no police and no one checking bags. The guys next to me were bragging that they paid for regular admission as we watched the movie on IMAX. Theater employees can't even stop people from sneaking in to a more expensive movie.

This is over reacting, maybe not really over reacting but I do not think batman made this guy do what he did. If a tragedy like this were to occur, it could occur at any theater even for the ice age 3 movie. Sick people will strike anywhere.

I was at the Rave earlier today, and was stopped at the ticket taker. She asked me to wait a moment as a manager came by and asked my to open my backpack.
It was no big deal, but really? All it takes is 1 person to ruin regular events. I don't want to be stopped at the movies, when even at school they don't check bags... And there's plenty more cases of that unfortunately.

The question of the movie content is not the problem here. If producers want to remake Batman 100 times, what's the difference? The problem is the sick man trapping dozens of innocent people and unleashing horror that none of us could even fathom.
