We've assembled a weekly calendar of kid-friendly activities and places to try out with children.

Each week, we'll give you the info on the five best family activities or events for the week.

Find out what's happening in South Whitehallwith free, real-time updates from Patch.

You're time-pressed enough, so we're happy to do the research and find the best things to do and places to go, both locally and within reasonable striking distance.

FAMILY BEST BETS OF THE WEEK

This week we offer ideas for shaking off cabin fever at an area gymnastic center, the library, local sports venues and more.

Lunchtime Flip Zone

Where/When: At Parkettes on Mondays from noon to 1 p.m., Wednesdays through Fridays from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Why Go: An hour of tumble time for your kids ages 1 through 7 in the Parkettes’ preschool gym. Get the younger ones ready for naptime and get all the kids their hour a day of recommended exercise.

Pricing: $7 for Members; and $9 for Non-Members.

Where/When: Independence Family Fun Center; open Fridays through Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.

Why Go: Rock climbing, mini-bowling, laser tag, skating and more. Let the kids get out that pent-up energy in a variety of ways!

Pricing: Kids age 3 and under are free; pricing is per activity with a combination pass available for $22

When/Where: Saturday, Feb. 12, from 11 a.m. to noon at the Parkland Community Library.

Why Go: Young readers between the ages of 4 and 10 can read to certified therapy dogs while younger kids can simply visit with the furry friends. Help your children strengthen their skills with some very nonjudgmental listeners. Readers must register in advance by calling the Youth Services Department at 610-398-1361 ext. 19.

When/Where: Monday, Feb. 14, at 7 p.m. at the Parkland High School gymnasium.

Why Go: Bring the family out to enjoy the Parkland vs. Whitehall basketball game and show some love to the community at the same time. Bring one or more cans of nonperishable food to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank and receive a free hot dog or pretzel at the game.

When/Where: Tuesday, Feb. 15, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the

Why Go: Celebrate Chinese New Year by dressing up teddy for stories, songs and games.  This program is open to all ages.  Please reserve a space by calling the Youth Services Department at 610-398-1361 ext. 19.
