How a Potts' Signature Hot Dog is Made
Potts' on Tilghman Owner Christina Potts shows how she makes their signature hot dog with their famous chili sauce.
Christina Potts, owner of Potts' on Tilghman in South Whitehall, shows how she makes their signature hot dog with mustard, onions and her grandmother's secret chili sauce.
Potts, whose grandparents opened the first Potts' in Bethlehem in 1971, has owned her store at 4235 E. Tilghman St., for three years.
Potts said she takes pride by focusing on quality, consistency and cost.
"I listen to my customers," Potts said, many whom are regulars.
Potts knows her customers so well, she often starts preparing their order the minute she sees them in the parking lot.
She offers traditional toppings, but also experiments with new ones, such as mango and pineapple salsa.
"I'm constantly looking for new and different," Potts said.
Among the offerings: three different kinds of mustard, barbeque and sriracha hot sauce.
What she hasn't tweaked too much is her grandmother's secret chili sauce.
"The recipe is under lock and key."
