Lena's Café Opens at Tilghman Square
Owners Lena and Hung Wang bring a new look and a new menu -- including afternoon tea -- to the new Lena's Café, now open at the Tilghman Square Shopping Center in South Whitehall.
The new Lena's Café is now open at the Tilghman Square Shopping Center in South Whitehall, with owners Lena and Hung Wang offering breakfast, lunch, brunch -- and afternoon tea.
Lena's Café opened in the space that recently housed the Bread Box, but the Wangs bring a new look, new style and new menu to the place.
"It is our dream" to open the café, said Lena Wang, who was working with her husband at the café on Tuesday. "We would like to be successful here. We would like people to really like us."
The Wangs changed the color scheme at the café -- now a soothing, soft green.
And they changed the menu.
Lunch includes paninis, sandwiches, wraps and salads as well as hot dishes such as Creamy Chicken Pasta Baked and Marinara Beef Pasta Baked. Breakfast and brunch include egg sandwiches, waffles and omelettes. Beverages include coffee, tea, expresso (hot and iced), lattes and cappuccinos.
Lena Wang is also introducing something that's popular in her native Taiwan -- the afternoon tea. Served from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m., the afternoon tea menu offers a platter, for $9.99, that includes a sandwich, cake, scone, fruit salad, vanilla panna cotta and a cup of tea or coffee. Waffles -- banana chocolate, strawberry style and vanilla walnut style -- also are available.
"We wanted to bring it here," said Lena Wang of the afternoon tea. And, she added, at a reasonable price.
The café's menu can be found on its website.
The Wangs had helped operate a restaurant in Lancaster sometime ago, but more recently Lena Wang was teaching art in Taiwan. Her art work, in colored pencil, hangs on a wall at the café.
Lena's Café, which seats about 35, is open seven days a week.
Here are the hours:
- 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., Mondays through Saturdays
- 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Sundays.
A grand opening is planned.
