10 New School Buses to be Added to Parkland Fleet

The Parkland School Board approves $886,000 contract to buy 10 school buses.

Parkland School District will buy 10 new school buses for nearly $886,000.

The school board awarded a contract last Tuesday to Wolfington Body Co. Inc., of Exton (Chester County) for eight 72-passenger school buses at $91,595 each and two 36-passenger school buses at $88,712 each. The purchase is being made through the district's capital projects fund.

The district owns 134 buses, according to Mark Lapos, director of school services.

Why are we going to pay for new buses when our taxes are going up, our country is facing a sequester, and our home bound seniors may loose a meal a day??

Are the busses they are replacing going to be treated as staff, where they get "retired" or put on a list, so we can later bring them back after the "Parkland makes Vehicle Cuts" headlines. So we the taxpayer are REPLACING 10 school busses? Is there anything of value to older busses? Are busses WE are getting rid of any value, or are we simply dumping them? Sorry for the questions, but this isn't a $20 purchase, yet our budgetary people are presently looking at 3-5% shortfalls, which will ultimately fall on OUR tax bill!!!!
