Parkland Students' Food Collection Tops 20,000 Items

Parkland School District's food drive culminated Thursday when 20,000-plus items were delivered to the Second Harvest Food Bank.

Students and staff members from Parkland School District joined together to collect food in recent weeks for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

It was the district’s seventh annual district-wide community service event. 

The result, according to school officials: a 20,000-plus-item donation to the food bank, which serves more than 200 agencies in a six-county region throughout the Lehigh Valley and northeastern Pennsylvania.

On Thursday, 45 students -- representing each of Parkland 11 schools -- were at the high school to help load the collection for delivery to the Second Harvest.
