South Whitehall Books First Outdoor Summer Concert
The rock group Cunningham & Associates, fronted by Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham, will perform outdoors June 1 at Covered Bridge Park.
Get ready to rock.
Cunningham & Associates, the local rock group fronted by Lehigh County Executive Don Cunningham, will be the first group to perform in Covered Bridge Park as South Whitehall debuts something new for its residents -- free outdoor summer concerts.
The concert is set for 7 p.m. on Friday, June 1.
People are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
No alcohol will be permitted in the park.
Township commissioners had given Manager Jon Hammer the go-ahead in April to book a group. With Lehigh County celebrating its bicentennial this year, Hammer was interested in having Cunningham's group perform.
Patch took a poll too. Of those voting, 33 percent picked rock as their No. 1 music choice for a free summer concert. Another 25 percent picked Pop, such as a Jimmy Buffet tribute band.
Hammer said Service Electric will sponsor the June 1 concert.

Keeping fingers crossed for good weather!!! (and the forecast looks good!) Township Manager Jon Hammer says you can’t really do the concert in the rain, especially if there are thunderstorms.
