South Whitehall Shooting Suspect Will Face Attempted Homicide Charges
Jamel Hussein Lewis, 34, was accused of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment in court Tuesday.
During a preliminary hearing Tuesday afternoon, Jamel Hussein Lewis of Wellington, FLA had charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and reckless endangerment held for Lehigh County Court action.
Lewis allegedly chased Shane Gibbs and fired multiple shots on Dec. 4 in South Whitehall. The incident started after Gibbs had argued with his estranged wife at 2021 Focht Ave.
According to LehighValleyLive.com Gibbs left the house after the argument and headed toward what he thought was a South Whitehall police car. He heard the front door slam behind him and turned to see Lewis come out of the house and start firing.
Gibbs testified that Lewis fired at him and at his car, where Gibbs' girlfriend, Tracy Frey, was sitting in the passenger seat. Lewis continued to shoot at him as he ran away.
The LehighValleyLive article reports that Lewis' attorney argued he was only trying to scare Gibbs but District Judge Jacob Hammond disagreed.
Lewis remains in Lehigh County Prison in lieu of $1 million bail.

Luckily no one was hurt because of stupidity! My children go to school practically next door to this home!
