Two People Hurt in Route 309 Accident
Driver says she swerved to avoid another car and hit the center concrete median.
South Whitehall police report an accident on Route 309 North near Tilghman Street on Dec. 2 at 11:36 p.m.
According to the report, Rebecca Jones, 22, of 244 W. Emaus Ave., Allentown, told police she was driving north in the left lane of Route 309 at Tilghman Street when a dark-colored SUV swerved from the right lane into the left lane and caused her to swerve.
She struck the center concrete median and then swerved back to the right lane and hit the rear end of another vehicle. Her car then came to rest facing south on the northbound shoulder.
Jones said she never made contact with the SUV and it never stopped. The driver of the car she rear-ended, Khitam Layou, 43, of 1248 Fairmont St., Whitehall, told police she was in the right lane when she was struck from the rear. She said she didn't remember an SUV.
Both drivers complained of head and neck pain and were taken to Lehigh Valley Health Network by Cetronia Ambulance.
