Viewfinder: Bell Ringer Camp At Asbury

R. J. Zack, 8, of Fogelsville, rings his bell during a recital at the end of the week-long CHAMP Camp 2011 at Asbury United Methodist Church on Friday, Aug. 12. The camp, led by Tammi Howorth, taught third through sixth graders how to read musical notation, play legato, different bell and chime techniques and several songs. CHAMP stands for Chimes, Handbells And Music Performance.

Tammi Howorth led a group of youngsters in a week-long Chimes Handbells and Music Performance (CHAMP) Camp at Asbury United Methodist Church in South Whitehall.

The recital was Friday.

Patch photographer Betty Cauler was there.

Howorth taught the youngsters, who are in third through sixth grade, how to read musical notation, play legato, bell and chime techniques and several songs.
