What Goes Here? Vacancy at K-Mart Shopping Plaza

In our new weekly feature we ask readers for their opinion on what stores, restaurants or businesses they would like to see in vacant locations in South Whitehall.

We want to know what stores you want to see in your township. The empty store front seen here is next to Tuesday Morning in the K-Mart Shopping Center off Tilghman Street.

The company that owns the plaza is the Allentown Towne Center. Unfortunately, the phone number listed on the sign in front of the plaza did not work. A quick poll of employees working in stores near the vacant spot said it has been empty for at least two years and they couldn't recall what had once been there.

This strip mall has seen some recent movement when a sign went up for a new Thai restaurant, Thai Avenue, last week. The Allentown Smoke Shop also opened this year in the shopping center.

The center is also home to Kmart, Sal's Pizza and other businesses.

What do you want to see here?

A decent deli- Jewish style like Syb's. Not a chain store but locally owned and operated.

Sandwich Shop with fair trade items, organic and vegan options. Few simple menu items, great coffee, and a bistro type of atmosphere.

A good deli sounds good. But a real deli, one that actually slices meats and makes their own potato and macaroni salad. I kind of like Subway but it's not a real deli sandwich.
