Work is Postponed on Cedar Crest Boulevard Bridge

The contractor on the Cedar Crest Boulevard Bridge project has a scheduling conflict, so work will not begin on Monday, Feb. 13, as previously announced.

Work on the structurally deficient Cedar Crest Boulevard Bridge over Cedar Creek in South Whitehall and Allentown has been postponed until further notice.

The work to fix the 55-year-old single span, concrete box beam bridge was to begin on Monday, Feb. 13. However, the contractor has a scheduling conflict, according to a release from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

An update will be provided when the new start date is determined.

The cost of the project is $865,814.

Crews will replace the superstructure (deck and beam). The project is expected to be completed by September 2012, PennDOT said.
