Thursday in South Whitehall: How a Neurotic Dog Became a Champ

The National Weather Service says to expect sunny skies.

Expect another beautiful day in South Whitehall on Thursday, Sept. 5.

According to the National Weather Service, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 74 degrees.

Here's what's going on in and around South Whitehall on Thursday:

  • Love dogs? Join Connie Newcomb, author of "Dog Show Confidential: Sneaking in the Back Door of Westminster," to learn about how she turned a neurotic, man-hating Chihuahua puppy into a champion, winning an Award of Merit at the prestigious Westminster Kennel Club dog show at Madison Square Garden. The Book Signing and Talk is at 7 p.m. at Parkland Community Library in South Whitehall.
  • Listen to music. At the Molten Lounge at Sands Bethlehem, the Johnny Drama band begins entertaining at 8:30 p.m.
  • St. Joseph The Worker Parish in Orefield will host its weekly I.H.S. night, a group for teens, by teens and about teens and ministry at 7 p.m. The Senior program is for teens in grades 9 through 12. The Junior High program is for teens in grades 6 through 8. 
  • PennDOT road crews will seal cracks on Mauch Chunk Road, between 15th Street and Route 329, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be lane restrictions with flagging.
