'Ambulance Chase' Raises Money for Children's Programs

Cetronia Ambulance Corps raised more than $10,000 for its children's education and 911 awareness programs with its first annual race/walk at Lehigh Valley Zoo.

raised more than $10,000 for its children’s education and 911 awareness programs with its first annual “Great Ambulance Chase 5K Race and Family-Fun Walk” on May 20 at the Lehigh Valley Zoo.

More than 200 racers, walkers and supporters participated in the event, coordinated by Cetronia Ambulance Corps and endorsed by the Young Lawyers Division of the Bar Association of Lehigh County. 

Deborah Allen, Cetronia's director of development, said the proceeds will be used to purchase a new “Andy the Ambulance,” a robotic replica of a Cetronia ambulance that will be able to interact with children in a meaningful way.

Each year, Cetronia Ambulance provides hundreds of community-based educational programs to day-care centers, pre-schools, elementary schools, Boy & Girl Scouts and youth groups which include a visit from “Andy.”

 * In the women’s division, Lauren Hoover (24:14)

* In the men’s division, Michael Nino (22:38). 

Awards also went to:

* Avery Smith, overall second place winner

* Sherman Cox, overall second place winner

* Madison Zaun, overall third place winner

* Terry Thomas, overall third place winner 

Six racers in each the women’s and men’s divisions were also recognized with first, second and third place ribbons.
