Bites Nearby: Armetta’s Italian Restaurant & Pub

Diners who prefer to patronize locally owned establishments may like to try Armetta’s. In addition to the Macungie restaurant in a strip mail along Route 100, there is a second location at 301 Main St., Emmaus.

Armetta’s is well known for its pizza, and also carries a range of lighter fare to full dinner entrees, most with an Italian flair. Traditional pizzas are made with hand-tossed round crust or thick crust (round or square), and all the typical toppings are available, priced separately.

Gourmet and gourmet white pizzas ramp up the flavor combinations, including varieties such as buffalo chicken, bruschetta, stuffed veggie lover’s, Tuscan and Armetta Deluxe.

The menu continues with bolis (Armetta’s version of meat or veggie strombolis), 1/3-pound burgers, hot and cold subs, wraps, and sandwiches it calls Great American Favorites, including a lump crab cake sandwich, smoked turkey club, tuna melt and BLT. Eggplant sticks, mussels marinara and fried calamari are among the Italian-inspired appetizers.

For a complete dinner, diners may choose from pasta entrees and baked pasta entrees (all the familiar favorites: stuffed shells, ziti, manicotti, ravioli, many of which are $10.99-$13.99, as well as chicken, veal and seafood entrees (most around $18.99 and $19.99), served with soup or salad, pasta or fries and warm Italian bread.

Lunch specials are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring whole grain ciabattas, focaccia and wraps, with several choices of meats and other ingredients, for $5.99 each. The spacious dining room is unfussy and bright, with booths, tables, and seating at the bar.
