Bites Nearby: Bamboo Asian Cuisine & Sushi Bar

Asian flavors in the Lehigh Valley

Behind a simple façade at the Shops at Cedar Point lies Bamboo, a sit-down restaurant offering a range of Asian cuisine. The setting is open and airy, the décor neutral and minimalist. The menu, however, abounds with options, including dishes from Japanese, Chinese and Thai traditions, as well as freshly crafted sushi.

From the sushi bar, guests may choose a la carte sushi or sashimi (one piece per order), full sushi and sashimi entrees (served with miso soup or salad), or from among more than 40 varieties of rolls.

Standard rolls (California, salmon, blackened tuna, spicy scallop and walnut & avocado, for example) are priced from $3.50 to $8. Bamboo’s special rolls ($12-$16) are more elaborate, with imaginative combinations of ingredients and descriptive names to match. Icy Spicy Roll is made with spicy white tuna, cucumber, asparagus and tempura crunch, topped with seared white tuna and sweet chili sauce. The Blushing Lava Roll has shrimp tempura and avocado on the outside, with kani, strawberry sauce and black tobiko on the outside.

From the kitchen, entrees fall into categories based on their main ingredients or style of preparation. There are a host of dishes made with poultry, beef, pork, seafood or vegetables and served with white or brown rice.

Noodle dishes include variations of lo mein, pad thai, rice noodles, angel hair rice noodles and fried rice. Teriyaki meals, served with rice and soup or salad, may be made with chicken, steak, salmon, shrimp, tofu and more ($11.95-$17.95).

Lunch specials are served until 3 p.m. One selection can be diner’s choice of any two or three rolls with soup or salad. Japanese lunch boxes start with a main dish such as chicken or steak teriyaki, vegetable tempura or assorted sushi, and come complete with soup, salad, California roll, pot stickers and rice.

Bamboo is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week.
