Bites Nearby: Mi Piace

If all you know about Mi Piace Italian Kitchen & Pizzeria is what you see when you’re driving on Hamilton Boulevard past Krocks Road, you might assume that it’s a small neighborhood eatery doing most of its trade in pizza, stromboli and the like. 

Situated in Shepherd Hills Plaza, at a busy intersection, it can be a quick go-to place for the surrounding Upper and Lower Macungie neighborhoods.

But Mi Piace is a full sit-down restaurant with comfortable, subdued décor, also serving a substantial menu of Italian fare -- from antipasti to soups, salads, pastas, meat entrees and desserts.

Shrimp cocktail, mussels marinara, and scallops and portabella mushroom caps are a few of the antipasti choices. 

Entrees fall into the expected categories of pastas, fish, veal, chicken and Al Forno (baked pastas). Among the familiar Italian preparations are fettuccine alfredo, veal marsala, veal piccata, chicken cacciatore, chicken francese, lasagna and manicotti.

Entree prices range from about $10 to $19. At lunchtime on Monday through Friday, all entrees are offered for $2 less than dinner prices.

For a more casual bite, Mi Piace does indeed serve hot and cold subs and hoagies, stromboli, cheesesteaks, and of course pizza, by the slice or whole pie.

The selection of dolci (sweets) sticks to the classics: tiramisu, canola, cheesecake.
