Festivals And A Place to Rock-N-Roll

Patch offers up ideas to help you make the most of your week.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-with-work-outta-here time. Check our picks.

1. Fullerton Memorial Fair

Where/When: Fullerton Memorial Playground (behind Toys-R-Us), running through Sunday, June 5. Open 6-10 p.m. through June 3; and 3-10 p.m. on June 4 and June 5.

Why Go: Family fun. Music by The Large Flowerheads on Thursday, June 2; Billy Bauer Band on Friday, June 3; Happy Jack the Polka King and She Said Sunday on Saturday, June 4; and Jake Kaligis on Sunday, June 5. Ride specials and fireworks on Sunday, June 5. The fair benefits the Fullerton Memorial Playground and Athletic Association.

Price: Ride/food prices vary. Entertainment is free.

2. Scotch, Soul & Rock-n-Roll

Where/When: Allentown Jewish Community Center on Thursday, June 2, beginning at 6 p.m.

Why Go: Ron Gartner along with the Bill Gulino Band salute the best of the Rat Pack, American Bandstand and Motown in a Vegas-like setting. You can enjoy the VIP lounge along with dinner or table seating and munchies, or just the entertainment. 

Price:  For $125 per person you’ll enjoy the VIP lounge. You receive dinner ‘on the Strip’, open bar, the featured act, two drink tickets and table munchies and valet parking. Reserved table seating is available for $50 per person and includes two drink tickets and table munchies with the featured act. Open table seating is $25 per person and includes table munchies along with the featured act. Tickets are available on their website.

3. Jordan Summer Festival

Where/When: Friday, June 3, and Saturday, June 4, from 5 to 10 p.m. at .

Why Go: Food, fun and games. They’ll also have live music from Crazyheart and the Cramer Brothers.

Price: Prices vary.

 

4. Parkland High School’s GEO Club Community Wide Yard Sale

Where/When: ’s parking lot on Saturday, June 4, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m..

Why Go: Someone else’s trash may be your treasure, so reuse their unwanted items and help preserve the environment. Refreshments and restrooms will be available.

Price: Prices vary.

5. 12th annual Hollingshead Celebration

Where/When: Becky’s Drive-in on Saturday, June 4. Gates open at 6 p.m.

Why Go: Saturday night Becky’s Drive-in will be celebrating their 12th annual Hollingshead Celebration with fireworks at intermission by Celebration Fireworks. Richard Hollingshead opened the first drive-in 78 yrs ago in Camden, N.J. on June 6, 1933.

Before the shows begin, there will be a demonstration by Emerald Dragon Karate. There will also be pony rides, a petting zoo, trackless fire engine rides and a DJ with prizes. On Screen 1 at 8:45 p.m. they’ll be showing Hangover Part II followed by Bridesmaids at 10:50 p.m. Screen 2 will feature Kung Fu Panda 2 at 8:50 p.m. followed by Rio at 10:35 p.m.

Price: Admission for Adults $8; Children 3 to 12 yrs old $4. If you arrive and there are no spots for cars left you can park elsewhere and sit on blankets in the drive-in to enjoy the movie so pack blankets and a radio just in case.
