Get Out: 5 (Fun) Things To Do

It's Thursday, and you've got no idea what you'll do tonight and over the weekend. Patch to the rescue. We've got the best bets for your done-with-work-outta-here time.

1. 

Where/When: At  in the Tilghman Square Shopping Center on Friday, Aug. 19, from 5 p.m. until midnight.

Why Go: Family fun until 8 p.m., with the musical party continuing until midnight. There will be balloon artists and face painters from 5 until 8 p.m., fry eating contest, monster burger eating contest, a flair bartender and more.

Price: Admission to the music and activities will be free, and food and drinks will be for sale. To benefit The Eastern PA Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, there will also be 10th Annual Summer Bash T-shirts available for purchase.

2. Summer Festival

Where/When:  now through Saturday, Aug. 20. The fun takes place from 5 p.m. until 10:30 p.m. each day with an early opening of 3 p.m. on Saturday.

Why Go:  Help support the hospital by attending their annual festival full of rides, crafts, games, food and more. Entertainment includes The Cramer Brothers on Aug. 18, Crazy Heart on Aug. 19, and the Jesse Wade Gang on Aug. 20.

Price:  There will be a $2 per ride special from 6 until 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 18 and a $12 ride special on Saturday, Aug. 20 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Where/When:  Clover Hill Vineyards & Winery on 9850 Newtown Road in Breinigsville on Sunday, Aug. 21, from 10:30 a.m to 11:30 a.m.

Why Go: Join yoga instructor Jacque Porterfield (from Lehigh Valley Yoga) for a class of Ashtanga yoga in the Vineyard.  Beginners are welcome, but please bring a mat (if you have one) and water.  This class will be rain or shine. Reserve your space on Clover Hill’s Facebook page.

Price: $5

Where/When:  hosts the evening on Wednesday, Aug. 24 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Why Go: The library’s book group for adults is meeting to discuss "The Help" by Kathryn Stockett. New members are always welcome. The movie The Help is currently playing at the Theatres.

Price: Free.

Where/When:  on Thursday, Aug. 18. The special Zombie only event will take place after the park closes to the general public at 7 p.m. and will continue until midnight.

Why Go: Be a part of a Guinness Book of World Records Event for most costumed people on an amusement ride. Make-up artists will be available early on to help you be a "zombie." You must purchase a Zombie Event Ticket to enter the Zombie Containment area at 6 p.m. or the main gate after 8 p.m. as this is a private event.

Price: Gate price tickets are $29.99 but discount tickets available through zombie groups. For more information, go to Dorney Park’s website
