Patch offers up ideas to help you make the most of your weekend

Editor's note: It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-with-work-outta-here time.

1. "Annie" at Orefield Middle School

Where/When:  offers a of the classic musical "Annie" on Sunday, March 6, at 2 p.m. 

Why Go: Come out and see the students perform in one of the most beloved musicals in history – Annie with its upbeat plot and flamboyant characters.

Pricing: Tickets will be $3 for students and $5 for adults.

2. Spring Musical at Springhouse Middle School

Where/When: . Final performance of the , “How to Eat Like a Child” will be at 7 tonight, March 3.

Why Go:  You won’t want to miss the students performing in this one-act revue, as children give the audience lessons on how to not act like grown-ups.  Lessons range from topics such as "How to Stay Home from School" to "How to Beg for a Dog" to "How to Deal with Injustice."  Musical numbers accentuate the playful, yet at times quite astute, tone of the show. 

Pricing: Free.

3. Board Game Night

Where/When: Roosters Hava Java every Friday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Play the game of the night or bring your own game along to enjoy while you try their exotic coffees, frozen and blended coffee drinks, smoothies and Italian sodas.

Pricing: Free to play, beverage prices vary.

4. Indoor Yard Sale and Pet Adoptions

Where/When: Peaceable Kingdom on Saturday, March 5. The yard sale is from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m., and adoptions are from noon until 3 p.m.

Why Go: They’ve been accepting donations for the yard sale of gently used items with proceeds benefiting the shelter. Stop by to see what they have, and if there’s nothing at the sale that interests you,  maybe you’ll find a new furry friend.

Pricing: Varies.

5. Chili Cook-Off

Where/When: Asbury United Methodist Church on Sunday, March 6, from 4 to 7 p.m.

Why Go: Asbury will team up with the Barn, Keneseth Israel, Muhlenberg College and La Trinidad UMC on their 2011 Habitat for Humanity project home. Donations will be accepted; all will support the Habitat project.  This year, for the first time, they've invited pro chefs as well as their amazing amateur chefs.  In addition to the chili samples, hot dogs, corn bread and beverages will be served.  Head over and enjoy an evening of fun, fellowship, and great tasting foods all in support of their project!
