Get Out: Auto Show, Beach Blast, 5K Run, Shows

Patch offers up ideas to help you make the most of your weekend.

Editor's note: It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue. We’ve got the best bets for your done-work-outta-here time. Check our picks.

1. Greater Lehigh Valley Auto Show

Where/When: Lehigh University, Rauch Fieldhouse & West Pavilion, Bethlehem, Thursday – Saturday 10 a.m. – 9 p.m.; and Sunday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Why Go: With more than 200 new makes and models of cars, SUV’s and trucks, this is a car lovers fantasy come true. Bring the kids along for the ride because there will be fun activities for them too.

Pricing: Tickets: $10/ adult; $8/ senior, $7 ages 6 -14, 5 and under free. ($2 discount for ordering tickets online). Parking is free.

2. Nunsense

Where/When: Now through the end of May at the Pines Dinner Theatre with matinee performances on Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday afternoons at 2 p.m.; and evening performances every Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.

Why Go: Join the Little Sisters of Hoboken as they stage a benefit review to raise money to bury a group of nuns accidentally poisoned by the convent chef, Sister Julia (Child of God)! Doors open for matinee performances at noon with the first course of dinner at 12:30 p.m. and the show starting at 2 p.m. Doors open for evening performances at 6 p.m. with the first course of dinner at 6:30 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m.

Pricing: Dinner and Show tickets are $46.20 for adults; $44.20 for seniors (60+); $16.60 for children (under 16) and includes dinner, beverages during dinner, show, and tax. For the show only, tickets are $25 for adults; $10 for children (3 to 15).  Tickets available on their website

 

3. Beauty and the Beast

Where/When: At the Jewish Community Center on Thursday, March 31, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, April 2, at 8:30 p.m.; and Sunday, April 3, at 2 and 6 p.m.

Why Go: Get out and enjoy Stagemakes of the J’s performance of Disney’s Beauty and the Beast.

Price: Members: $15 for adults; $10 for children. Non-members: $17 for adults; $13 for children. Tickets are available for purchase on the center’s website 

 

4. Beach Bash & Splash at Cabaret & Cuisine 2011

Where/When: Lehigh Valley on Friday, April 1, from 6 until 10 p.m.

Why Go: Help support the life-saving programs of the American Red Cross and savor a wide range of  hors d'oeuvres, dishes and desserts from this area's most-loved caterers and restaurants at the same time. Relax in your beach-themed attire and enjoy contests, games and a silent auction. Meet Honorary Chair Bobby Gunther Walsh, Morning News Host for News Talk 790 WAEB and get moving with Freddie Frederick Jr. Entertainment as he plays songs from past to present.

Price: Tickets are $75 per person or $450 for a table of eight. Dress is casual or beach-theme attire. Tickets are available for purchase on their website

 

5. “The Colors of Lent: A Musical Journey through Holy Week”

Where/When:on Sunday, April 3, at the 9:30 and 11 a.m. worship services.

Why Go: Experience the joyous sounds of the handbell choirs as they present the morning message during the Lenten services.

Price: Free.

And a bonus:

6. Spring Fling 5K

Where/When: At the Lehigh Valley Parkway on Sunday, April 3, beginning at 9 a.m.

Why Go: The Spring Fling 5K is the first 5K of the Run Lehigh Valley series and starts and ends near the LV Road Runners Club house. Get out and get some exercise or root for friends taking part. The top male and female finisher will be awarded prizes, and age group awards will be given.  The awards ceremony will take place as soon as possible following the last finisher.

Price: $25 registration fee. Registration closes on Friday, April 1, at 3 a.m. and may be done through their website
