Red Robin Summer Bash at Tilghman Square Friday

The 12th annual summer bash is outdoors at the Tilghman Square shopping center in South Whitehall.

More than 5,000 people are expected to flood the Tilghman Square shopping center in South Whitehall Friday as the annual Red Robin Summer Bash once again transforms a portion of the shopping center into party central.

The 12th annual bash will be outdoors from 5 p.m. to midnight, featuring music, a light show, face painting and a balloon artist.

Go Go Gadget will perform beginning at 8 p.m., according to the bash Facebook page. Beat City will perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., with DJ Cap Cee also mixing throughout the evening.

"It's a fun marketing event for us," said Patricia Sobaru, senior marketing manager for Red Robin.

The first event attracted about 500 people, she said. Now, more than 5,000 are expected. The location is good, she said, because of the availability of parking and the size of the parking lot.

"It's a fun night out," she said.

Family programming is from 5 to 8 p.m. Sobaru said there will be face-painting, a balloon artist and free glitter tatoos. The Red Robin mascot also will be on hand.

Admission is free, but bash-goers can purchase food and drink. There is also a $30 VIP tent.

Donations will be accepted for the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
