Schnecksville Principal Leaving to be Closer to Bucks Home

Schnecksville Elementary School Principal William Bowen, who has held the position for 10 years, said his departure will be 'bittersweet.'

Schnecksville Elementary School Principal William Bowen said he is leaving the school to be closer to his home in Bucks County and spend more time with his family.

Bowen has been principal at Schnecksville for more than 10 years.

"The closer distance will provide me with more time to spend with my three young children and be active in their sporting and social activities," Bowen told Patch in an email.

He said the move will be a homecoming of sorts. Bowen, who has accepted a position as principal at Gwynedd Square Elementary School, grew up five miles away. He attended the North Penn School District from kindergarten through 12th grade.

"I have truly enjoyed my time at Schnecksville and Parkland and the move will be bittersweet," Bowen said.

"I have established great relationships with the staff, students and parents. I will miss the many wonderful events and learning activities the school has to offer."

Parkland School District can retain Bowen for 60 days after his resignation is accepted by the school board, according to district spokeswoman Nicole McGalla.

"He will be here for a couple months," to help with the transition, McGalla said.

Schnecksville Elementary School has about 400 students.

Parkland School District has posted the job opening for a new Schnecksville Elementary School principal and is accepting applications until Aug. 30, according to the school's website.
