Burger King Reopening Is Uncertain

Burger King franchise owner said Tuesday he was not sure whether he would reopen the fast-food restaurant on Hamilton Boulevard in South Whitehall.

Burger King franchise owner Bob Van Duzer said Tuesday he is not sure whether he will reopen the fast-food restaurant at 3105 Hamilton Blvd. in South Whitehall.

Van Duzer did not specify why on Nov. 19. He said, however, that he is in discussions with the corporate Burger King on a "series of things" and that sales were down.

The "Thanks PPL" message on an outdoor sign is a genuine thank-you to PPL for their restoration efforts after the October snowstorm, he said. Van Duzer said he had operated the Burger King at that location for 33 years.

Burger King Corp., which is headquartered in Florida, said in an email last week that the franchise operating company closed without its consent and that it had requested the restaurant be re-opened as soon as possible.
