When and how did your business get started?
The store opened January 12, 1982. I began working there in July 1984 with the intention of learning the business. While in my interview with the owner, she asked me "why do you want to work in a small store?" I replied, "because one day, I want to own my own store." She trained me and showed me what it took to run this business. I got married, graduated college (at the age of 33) with a degree in Retail & Marketing from Cedar Crest College and then bought the paperbag in May 1997.
Why did you decide to open your business in South Whitehall?
The building we are in (The Shops at 3900 Hamilton) is owned by the former owner's husband. This is why the store opened in South Whitehall Township.
