The 55,000-square-foot fitness center on the Integrated Health Campus in South Whitehall and Upper Macungie has a new name and a new owner.
Steel Fitness Premier, whose parent company also operates Steel Fitness Riverport in Bethlehem, has opened in Suite 100 at the health campus, 250 Cetronia Road. The center was previously the .
“We are excited to be expanding our footprint in the Lehigh Valley," said Tom Fenstermacher, owner of FACTS Fitness, in a prepared release.
Facts Fitness purchased the fitness center on July 2 from OAA Orthopaedic Specialists, said Debbi MacArthur, the new owner's marketing and public relations director. The purchase price was not disclosed.
The center, which has about 4,000 members, had been a medical fitness club, with trainers taking members from physical therapy to fitness, she said.
Changes are planned at the facility, including new signage and staff uniforms. Also, MacArthur said, the space will be renovated. A juice bar and a "mind and body" area for yoga and Pilates will be added and the strength-training equipment moved.
"Steel Fitness Premier is a health and wellness facility, not just a health club," MacArthur said. "It's a complete wellness center."
The club offers group fitness programs and has three pools including a lap pool, according to a release. There are individual viewing screens and iPod docks on cardio equipment, a Playcare area for young children, massage therapy and nutrition counseling.
A grand opening is planned for the fall.
MacArthur said Fenstermacher had been in negotiations to purchase the fitness center for several years. She said he was looking to grow Facts Fitness, which now has four sites.
The health club industry is competitive, especially in South Whitehall.
Several clubs operate in the township, including , at the Tilghman Square Shopping Center and the (West End Racquet Club).
