Upscale Asian Restaurant to Open at Charlie Brown's

Lily Grill Seafood Sushi & Bar will open in the former Charlie Brown's restaurant on Walbert Avenue in South Whitehall.

An upscale Asian restaurant that serves Chinese, Japanese and Thai food will open in the former Charlie Brown's restaurant in South Whitehall.

Lily Grill Seafood Sushi & Bar expects to open sometime in June at 1908 Walbert Ave. in South Whitehall, owner Zuri “John” Zhang told the board of commissioners at its Wednesday meeting.

The board held a public hearing where it agreed to transfer a liquor license to the new restaurant.

Zhang said he invested $350,000 into the restaurant, including $160,000 for the liquor license. He said liquor and wine can be part of a good meal, to which the commissioners chuckled in apparent agreement.

The restaurant, which is undergoing renovations and will seat 160.

Zhang, who has more than 15 years of restaurant experience, said he bought another building in the township several years ago. Zhang's attorney said Zhang loved the location and wanted to open a business here.

Zhang agreed to reimburse the township for fees incurred for the public hearing and advertising.

Maybe the commissioners will go there to eat before meetings instead of ordering pizza on the township dime. Next time commissioners instead of spending taxpayer money on food to satisfy yourselves maybe you can pack a lunch like many hard working Americans do everyday. While your busy asking for everyone in the township to make cuts, maybe you could take your own advice. On a positive note I am glad to see new business is coming to South Whitehall Township.

slanderous comment by an anonymous person, use your real name or STFU

Slander would require that the statement I made was false or malicious, neither of which is true. I'm sure you won't see the commissioners on here saying I'm wrong. Transparency is definitely not a concern of this current administration.

Ultimately my name is not important but the facts of the mismanagement of this township are to all of us.

Hopefully someone will fix up the burnt out eyesore next door. Some of the boards blew off the windows in the hurricane and were never replaced. Not very appealing for patrons of an "upscale" restaurant.

why were the chinese comments removed? Is Patch racist or intolerant to non-english speaking folks?

I contacted LVHN several months ago about volunteering with my son (8 years old) at the AndersonRead More campus. I would stay with him at all times and supervise him. I was told that they do not accept children. I think its a shame that the hospital will not accept him a a volunteer. I am trying to teach him how to give back to his community . Apparently the hospital does not want our help. I think several patients, especially older ones, would like getting assistance from a young child.

Tom, LVHN does not have an Anderson Campus. I believe you are referring to St Luke's Health Network.Read More LVHN is not able to accept volunteers under the age of 16 years old. There are many mandated reasons that young children are not allowed to volunteer in a hospital setting. Volunteering is a wonderful thing to teach your children. There are organizations in the Leigh Valley who are willing to utilize families. Please visit the Volunteer Center of the Leigh Valley for other opportunities in your area. www.volunteerlv.org
