Viewfinder: Opening Day At Dorney Park

The new Planet Snoopy was a big hit with kids.

It was cool but sunny on Saturday as  opened for the season, boasting a new Planet Snoopy kid's park with a monorail and six other new rides and a Chickie's & Pete's eatery.

Larger-than-life Peanuts characters were on hand as kids and adults, with cameras in tow, turned out to greet park-goers.

The new park has the Linus Launcher, in which kids lay on their stomachs as they take a spin; Snoopy's Rocket Express, the monorail that provides riders with great views of the park; and the colorful Flying Ace Balloon Race.

Patch photographer Betty Cauler was there to capture the scene as anxious patrons waited for the park to open, then tried out the new venues.

Dorney Park is open today, May 1, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.
