Westfield Hospital Holding Flu Clinics

Doctor tells WFMZ it's not too early to get the flu vaccine.

Westfield Hospital in South Whitehall has added more flu vaccine clinics.

Cost is $20.

According to the hospital's Facebook page, clinics will be held on the hospital's first floor for those age 10 and older on:

* Thursday, Sept. 22, 5 to 7 p.m.

* Sunday, Sept. 25, 9 a.m. to noon

* Tuesday, Sept. 27, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Dr. David Gordon, director of Westfield Hospital's intensive care unit, said in an interview with WFMZ that the flu season appears to be starting earlier, in part because youngsters are going back to school earlier. While getting the flu shot doesn't guarantee that a person won't get the flu, Gordon said the immune response will be stronger.
