To the South and North Whitehall communities,
For the past six months I've experienced life in both Whitehalls in a way most people don't.
I've attended, analyzed and wrote about municipal and school board meetings, went to the police station at least twice a week, visited the District Judge's office weekly and introduced myself and Patch to countless business people.
It's been a wonderful experience and I've learned much about what South and North Whitehall residents are really like. First - when Hurricane Sandy blew through town, I learned how generous neighbors can be and how dedicated emergency workers are.
Then, I watched how folks handled a divisive national election and still managed to remain civil. Along the way I met teachers and students with talent and drive I wish I could somehow bottle and sell.
It didn't take a lot of digging to discover that the sense of community in both South and North Whitehall is palpable. I feel honored to have been a part of your accomplishments and humbled to have witnessed your disappointments.
I will move on next week to a new venture where I will be editor of several community magazines that will soon be available in the Lehigh Valley. I hope to cross paths again with all the amazing people I've come to know and respect in South and North Whitehall!
Thanks for everything,
Jen Rodgers
