PennDOT Road Work This Week

Motorists are urged to use caution in work zones.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation plans the following road work in and around the South Whitehall area the week of Jan. 30:

* Brush cutting on Ruchsville Road, between Route 309 and Mauch Chunk Road from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. from Wednesday, Feb. 1 to Friday, Feb. 3.

There will be lane restrictions with flagged.

Motorists are urged to watch for stopped vehicles and to use caution when traveling through work areas.

* Construction on Route 22 over Mickley Road, between 15th Street and Route 145, from 4 a.m. to 6 a.m on Thursday, Feb. 2. 

There will be short-term rolling roadblocks in both directions for the jacking of the eastbound and westbound lanes of the Mickley Road overpass.

Motorists should expect delays.

The work is part of the ongoing project to rehabilitate bridge parapets on multiple bridges in Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties.
