Report: Mom of Salisbury Man Killed in Terrorist Attacks Reacts To Bin Laden's Death

Word spread quickly over Facebook and media outlets.

The mother of World Trade Center victim Bill Sugra is happy Osama bin Laden is dead, but says the pain of losing her son remains, according to a report early this morning on lehighvalleylive.com.

El Sugra, of Salisbury Township, and her husband hold a golf outing each year in her son's memory to raise money for needy causes.

Sugra's son, who was 30 when he was killed, worked at Cantor Fitzgerald Securities in the World Trade Center.

Also killed in the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001 was Alan H. Merdinger, 47, of South Whitehall. He was an accountant at Cantor Fitzgerald.

U.S. Rep. Charlie Dent, a member of the Appropriations Committee on Homeland Security, issued a statement calling Bin Laden's death "a major victory in the global war on terror.

"I am extremely proud of our military and intelligence communities, whose unswerving determination and perseverance led to this important achievement," he said in the statement.

He cautioned that Bin Laden's death does not signal an end to the war on terror.

"We must remain dedicated to combating extremism and vigilant in working to prevent terrorist attacks in the United States and abroad,”   he said.
