PoliticsPA Dubs Lehigh County Executive Race 'Most Interesting'

Republican Scott Ott and Democrat Tom Muller, both of Lower Macungie, will square off for Lehigh County's top job in the Nov. 5 election.

PoliticsPA has dubbed the Lehigh County Executive Race as one of the "13 Most Interesting" political races in Pennsylvania this year.

The race pits Republican Scott Ott, who is a Lehigh County commissioner, against Democrat Tom Muller, who is the county's director of administration.

Ott, of Lower Macungie, is making his second attempt for the county's top job which narrowly eluded him in 2009. He is co-host of a current events talk show for PJTV, a conservative online network.

Muller, also of Lower Macungie, held senior positions at large companies in the Lehigh Valley before moving into the public sector. He has been the county's director of administration for seven years.

This is what PoliticsPA said about the race and "why it matters:"

"If Ott, an unabashed conservative, is able to win in the moderate Lehigh Valley, it would be a major sign of strength of the party organization in the region. Dems have a 15 point registration advantage in Lehigh County."

The election is Nov. 5.

The Lehigh County League of Women Voters is sponsoring a Candidates Night with Ott and Muller on Friday at the county Government Center, 17 S.  7th St., Allentown. Those attending will have the opportunity to ask a written question of the candidates.
