Lehigh Valley Mall to Host Annual Simon Kidgits Book Blast

Whitehall, Pa. — Simon Malls are encouraging children across the country to discover the magic of reading through Simon Kidgits Book Blast events. On Monday, February 17, Simon Kidgits Club® at Lehigh Valley Mall is inviting families to enjoy a fun-filled, imaginative journey at its annual Book Blast event.

A day that celebrates literature and learning, Simon Kidgits Club’s Book Blast brings stories to life through a combination of readings, giveaways, prizes and interactive activities that inspire families and children to reap the benefits of an educational pastime.

The Book Blast will be hosted in the mall’s Elevator Court from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will feature read-aloud sessions of Tacky the Penguin and Tacky the Penguin Winter Games from Miss Santaliz of the Whitehall Township Public Library. In between story times, children can create “Tacky” themed crafts and enjoy penguin winter game activities. Children will receive an Olympic Gold Medal when they complete their winter games. Attendees are encouraged to bring a new or gently used book to donate to the Whitehall Township Public Library, to further foster the importance of reading within the community.

Each child who participates in the Book Blast event will receive a pre-loved book and bookmark to take home courtesy of associate sponsor, Better World Books, an online distributor of new and used books that help fund literacy initiatives worldwide.

As Book Blast draws to a close, children can enjoy a special treat from the Lehigh Valley Zoo, who will present their very special African Penguin. The introduction will take place at 12:30 p.m. and will kick off the animal zoological presentation, where Lehigh Valley Zoo will exhibit some of their resident animals until 3 p.m.
