D. E. Newberry, Jr., 82, Founded D's Limousine Service

D. E. Newberry, Jr., 82, died Saturday, December 14, 2013.

D. E. Newberry, Jr., 82 years, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2013 at Cedarbrook Nursing Home, in Allentown. He was the husband of Dorothy (Friend) Newberry. He was a son of the late De Estes and Cora Mae (Perry) Newberry.

A truck driver and construction worker for most of his life, he lived in Alaska for 20 years where he was a pioneer of the Alaska Pipeline helping to build the North Slope Haul Road to Prudhoe Bay, AK. Later, he was the Safety Director for all the trucks hauling 48” pipe out of Fairbanks, AK. No lives were lost due to equipment failures during his tenure. He realized his dream of becoming a business owner when he and his wife Dorothy founded D’s Limousine Service in 1985. What began as a simple courier service grew to become the largest corporate transportation service in the Lehigh Valley with several sedans, limousines, vans, and buses.

Survivors
He is survived by his wife Dorothy of Orefield, his son Donald of Yardley, PA, and his brother L.M. of Tucson, AZ.

Services
Graveside service, 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 21 at Jordan Lutheran Cemetery, 5103 Snowdrift Rd., Orefield. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at Keller Funeral Homes, Inc., 1018 Church St., Fogelsville. Interment immediately following the service.
