Marilyn A. Bennett: Retired Head of Nursing at Mosser Nursing Home (Obituary)

Marilyn A. (Everett) Bennett, 84, of Slatington, formerly of Orefield, and Millsboro, Delaware, died Monday, January 27, 2014

Marilyn A. (Everett) Bennett, 84, of Slatington, formerly of Orefield, and Millsboro, Delaware, died Monday, January 27, 2014 in the home of her son, Bruce D. Bennett.

She was the wife of the late Frank J. Bennett. Born in Lowhill Township, January 15, 1930, Marilyn was the daughter of the late Lewis E. and Mary A. (Burkhardt) Everett. She was a graduate of the former South Whitehall High School.

A graduate of the former Sacred Heart Hospital School of Nursing in 1951, she was employed as a Registered Nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital from 1951- 1965. She then became the Director of Nursing at the Mosser Nursing Home, in Trexlertown, from 1965 until her retirement in 1988. She was a member of Union United Church of Christ, Neffs.

Marilyn enjoyed traveling and playing card games. She will be remembered as a great cook, an avid Penn State fan and a generous woman who loved her family.

Survivors: Children, Frank M. Bennett and his wife, Lisanne of Downingtown, Mary Ann L. Bailey and her husband, Dennis of Chattanooga, Tennessee, Bruce D. Bennett and close friend, Carmella Cavallo of Slatington; four grandchildren, Daniel, Kathleen, Lisa and Gregory; four great grandchildren, Emily, Arika, Megan and Wyatt; many nieces and nephews; predeceased by a brother, Harold F. Everett.

Services: Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 1, 2014 in the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc., 4906 Route 309, Schnecksville with the Rev. Thomas N. Thomas and the Rev. Russell L.J. Heintzelman officiating. Family and friends may pay their respects from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Interment will follow the service at Union Church Cemetery, Neffs.
