Merritt Pearson, 82, Earned Purple Heart in Korea

Mr. Pearson was a math teacher in the Saucon Valley School District.

Merritt C. Pearson, 82, of South Whitehall Township died Wednesday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest.

He was born in Hellertown on January 15, 1931 to the late Merritt and Mabel Pearson. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. 

Merritt was a math teacher at Saucon Valley School District for many years until retiring.  He is a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown and Military Order of the Purple Heart, MOPH, Chapter 0190.

He is survived by his son, Merritt C. of Allentown; and sisters Mary E. Kalynych and Joyce Raudenbush both of Hellertown

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home, Inc. 326 Main St., Hellertown. The service will follow at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown with military honors.
