2 Guns, 13 Jewelry Pieces Taken in 2 Burglaries, Police Say

Thefts reported on Highland Avenue and 17th Street were surrounded by different circumstances, police said.

Two South Whitehall Township homes were reported burglarized by homeowners on Thursday, though the circumstances of the incidents appeared to be very different, according to police.

Two guns were taken from one home on the 1300 block of 17th Street, near the intersection of W. Fairmount Street, police said. The burglar or burglars forced their way into the house through a window.

Homeowners reported the burglary at about 7:30 p.m.

In the morning, homeowners on the 3000 block of W. Highland Street told police that about 13 pieces of jewelry had been taken over a difficult-to-define period of time.

Contractors have been working on the house and people have been coming and going while the residents are not home during daytime hours, police said. There was no sign of forced entry.

Police did not have an estimated value for the stolen jewelry.

Both burglaries are under investigation.
