Man Accused of Eluding Police in High-Speed Chase

A 23-year-old Allentown man faces charges of trying to elude police in a high-speed chase that started in South Whitehall and ended in Slatingon.

A felony arrest warrant was issued for Brady Wyatt Gruver by District Judge Jacob Hammond, whose office is in South Whitehall.

State police at Fogelsville said they initiated a traffic stop at 12:50 a.m. Dec. 5 on eastbound Route 22 near Route 309 in South Whitehall on a green Volkswagen Jetta. But the driver didn't stop, and a chase ensued to Whitehall, Allentown, North Whitehall, Washington Township and Slatington, police said. 

According to a report in The Morning Call, the arrest affidavit said Gruver was travelling up to 115 mph, getting off Route 22 at 15th Street and eventually onto Routes 329 and 873.  It said a state trooper used his cruiser to ram Gruver's car when it went up on a sidewalk.

The car became disabled and Gruver fled on foot, police said.

The Morning Call reported that charges include fleeing or attempting to elude police, reckless endangerment and 44 traffic violations, including driving at unsafe speeds.
