Man Arrested for Bloody Fight In Front of Foo Joy

South Whitehall Police arrested Frederick John Schiller, 24, of Macungie, after a bloody fight and an apparent road rage incident on Oct. 12 in front of Foo Joy restaurant on Hamilton Boulevard.

According to police:

At 8:23 p.m. two female witnesses told officers at the scene they witnessed Schiller "driving recklessly" in a blue Dodge Dart in the parking lot of Foo Joy, 3229 Hamilton Blvd.

The witnesses said Schiller was driving too fast and squealing his tires when he almost hit a pedestrian in front of Foo Joy.

The pedestrian yelled an expletive and Schiller stopped his car, jumped out and started yelling back. Schiller then punched the pedestrian in the face and "took him to the ground."

The witnesses said Schiller continued to punch the pedestrian and broke his glasses.

When police arrived, they observed Schiller's car parked in front of Foo Joy, blocking traffic. Police report Schiller had minor scratches on his face and the pedestrian was bleeding from the mouth.

Court records said police charged Schiller with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment. A blood-alcohol test was not administered. District Judge Jacob Hammond did not set bail and Schiller was released.

Schiller is also facing charges -- including DUI -- related to a June 21 incident in Lower Macungie Township, court records say. State police at Fogelsville charged Schiller with DUI - controlled substances, first offense; DUI - combination alcohol/drugs, first offense, and traffic violations including accidental damage to unattended vehicle or property and failure to notify police of an accident, the records say.

A preliminary hearing on the June 21 incident is scheduled for Nov. 5 before District Judge Michael Faulkner of Upper Macungie Township.
