Man gets up to 40 Years in Jail for Burglary Spree

Angel Miguel Vargas and his brother had been charged in more than 100 burglaries, including several in South Whitehall.

 

Angel Miguel Vargas, the Allentown man charged along with his brother in more than 100 burglaries and attempted burglaries in five countes, was sentenced Friday to 20 to 40 years in jail, according to a report in The Morning Call.

Lehigh County Judge Maria L. Dantos imposed the sentence and ordered Vargas, 31, also pay $101,703 in restitution, the report said.

Vargas' brother, George Washington, 29, is scheduled to stand trial in July.

Vargas to burglaries and attempted burglaries that had taken place from October 2009 through January 2011, including several in South Whitehall.

The brothers had faced charges for  at 4141 W. Tilghman St. on Sept. 5, 2010 and stealing $5,083 work of cigarettes and $379 worth of smokeless tobacco and causing $2,155 in damage. The men had been accused of committing seven other burglaries or attempted burglaries in South Whitehall, including at Village West CleanersDrop N Clean, and Studio 2 Hair Salon.
