Police Blotter: Burglaries, Stolen Ice Cream and More
The following information was supplied by the South Whitehall Police Department. Arrests do not indicate a conviction.
According to South Whitehall police, the following were among the incidents that occurred in the township from Nov. 11 to Nov. 22:
Burglary
-- 400 feet of copper wire stolen from the 3100 block of W. Liberty Street; reported at 12:37 p.m. on Nov. 21.

-- 15-inch flat screen TV taken from the 4200 block of Huckleberry Road; reported at 2:03 p.m. on Nov. 17; person entered through front window.
Theft From Vehicle

-- A purse, makeup bag and $27 was stolen from a vehicle in the 1500 block of N. 19th Street; reported at 8:21 a.m. on Nov. 22; a wallet that was taken was found in a storm drain.
-- Carton of cigarettes, a gold ring, a silver ring and $2 in change stolen from a vehicle in the 2300 block of Columbia Street; reported at 6:54 a.m. on Nov. 21.
-- Purse with wallet and checkbook taken from a vehicle in the parking lot; reported at 1 p.m. on Nov. 20.
-- Two pairs of sunglasses, 40 CDs, a cellphone adapator and boxed wine taken from a vehicle in the 2800 block of Strohl Road; reported at 10:21 a.m. on Nov. 20.
-- Change taken from a vehicle in the 600 block of Ryan Drive; reported at 12:23 p.m. on Nov. 15.
-- Three or four boxes of ice cream taken from a commercial trailer in the lot; reported at 6:34 a.m. on Nov. 15.
Theft
-- An iPod and $10 taken at Lincoln Technical Institute; reported at 3:34 p.m. on Nov. 21.
-- Three bicycles stolen from the 1600 block of Shiloh Court; reported at 12:12 p.m. on Nov. 20.
-- iPod taken from ; reported at 8 a.m. on Nov. 18.
-- Cellphone taken from , 5050 W. Tilghman St.; reported at 7:54 p.m. on Nov. 16.
-- Copper downspouts taken from the 3300 block of Trexler Boulevard; reported at 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 16.
-- Cellphone taken at ; reported at 12:10 p.m. on Nov. 16.
-- Change and keys taken from the 3400 block of Birch Avenue; reported at 11:45 a.m. on Nov. 15.
-- Gutter spouts taken from the 3300 block of Highland Street; reported at 3:51 p.m. on Nov. 14.
-- Strand of pearls stolen from a resident at ; reported at 3:10 p.m. on Nov. 14.
-- A set of wheels taken from a vehicle at ; reported at 11:10 a.m. on Nov. 14.
-- Two sets of wheels were taken from a vehicle in a lot rented by , 5001 Crackersport Road; reported at 10:39 a.m. on Nov. 14.
-- Credit card stolen from counter at Exxon Uni-Mart 1825 Route 309; reported at 7:31 p.m. on Nov. 11.
Criminal Mischief
-- Window broken on a car in the 1400 block of 22nd Street; reported at 3:10 p.m. on Nov. 21.
-- Window broken at LA Fitness; reported at 12:27 a.m. on Nov. 15.
Accidents
-- One person was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 8:33 p.m. on Nov. 22, at the Tilghman East ramp to Route 309 north.
--One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 3:26 p.m. on Nov. 22, at Tilghman Street west and Route 309 north; the vehicles were towed from the scene.
-- One person was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 9:43 a.m. on Nov. 22, at Tilghman Street and Hausman Road; both vehicles were towed from the scene.
-- One person was slightly injured in a two-vehicle accident at 12:16 p.m. on Nov. 15, at Cedar Crest Boulevard and Highland Street.
Charged:
-- Michael Bechtel, 20, of Whitehall, with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, and an offensive weapon (knife); at 5:02 p.m. on Nov. 21, at Mauch Chunk and Scherersville roads.
-- A 14-year-old, with simple assault, harassment and simple assault with physical menace; at 6:23 p.m on Nov. 15 in the 800 block of Americus Drive.
-- Dennis Kowalski, 19, of Cumbola, with retail theft; for allegedly taking three Xbox games valued at a total of $1,272 from Target; reported at 4:21 p.m. on Nov. 15.
-- Mark Richmond, 52, of Allentown, with simple assault and harrassment; in the 400 block of S. 34th Street; at 2:23 p.m. on Nov. 15.
-- A 16-year-old boy, with reckless endangerment, following an accident; vehicle hit a tree and two people were injured; at 4:46 p.m. on Nov. 11, in the 2200 block of Minnick Road.
-- Luis Morales, 46, of Coopersburg, with harrassment by communication; at 12:23 p.m. on Nov. 11, at .
