Six Injured In Crash on Northeast Extension

A 6-year-old boy was ejected from an SUV, state police said.

Six people, including a 6-year-old boy, were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest for treatment Monday morning following an accident on the Northeast Extension in Lower Macungie, state police at King of Prussia said.

The accident happened when an SUV's right rear tire blew as it travelled southbound on the Pennsylvania Turnpike extension at 11:19 a.m., causing the driver to lose control, state police said. The SUV -- carrying three adults and three children -- rolled over two to three times after swiping another car that was travelling next to it in the left lane.

The 6-year-old boy, who had been sitting on the lap of a female passenger in the back seat of the SUV, was ejected, state police said. He landed on the roadway, several yards from where the SUV came to rest. No one was injured in the other car.
