South Whitehall Woman Fatally Stabbed During Burglary

Joyce Roth, 87, of South Whitehall, was stabbed early Monday morning during an apparent burglary near Hershey while visiting family to attend a high school graduation.

Joyce Roth, 87, of South Whitehall, was stabbed early Monday morning during an apparent burglary near Hershey while visiting family to attend her great-granddaughter's high school graduation, according to WFMZ.

Roth, of 1976 Brickyard Road, was stabbed in the chest and later died at the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, the article said.

First Assistant Dauphin County District Attorney Fran Chardo said items were missing from the home in Derry Township, according to PennLive.com.

Police said Roth had been stabbed once in the chest with what appeared to be a kitchen knife. Her son and daughter-in-law woke when they heard her in the hallway of their ranch-style home after 3 a.m. Monday, found her stabbed and called 911, according to a report on pennlive.com. 

The investigation continues.
