Teen Who Allegedly Brought Knives to Parkland Waives Hearing

Nicholas Luke Ibarra, 18, of Breinigsville, allegedly carried knives into Parkland High School in June with the intent of harming a student, police said.

A Breinigsville teen caught trespassing at Parkland High School and carrying knives to allegedly hurting a student waived his right to a preliminary hearing Monday, according to online court records.

Nicholas Luke Ibarra, 18, was charged in June with terroristic threats, criminal trespass and possession of weapons on school property. He was found to have two folding knives, South Whitehall police said.

Ibarra was upset over a past relationship, and in a text to his ex-girlfriend had threatened to kill a male student, according to a report in The Morning Call.

He had been caught "without incident" before the start of classes by school officials.

Ibarra was arraigned by District Judge Jacob Hammond in June, who set bail at $100,000, according to online court records. He remains free on bail.

According to the Lehigh Valley Live report, Ibarra faces additional charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Parkland School District officials said they have made security a priority at the schools.
