Township Buying Two New Police Cars

The cars were included in this year's budget.

South Whitehall police are getting two news cars at a total cost of $47,779.

Commissioners approved the purchases at their meeting Wednesday night. 

Police are buying a 2011 Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptor from the KME Kovatch Organization for $22,774, and a 2011 Dodge Charger from the New Holland auto group for $25,005.

Officials had allowed for the two purchases, down from initial needs, when passing the 2011 budget. The police department continues to maintain its other vehicles in an effort to extend their life and keep down costs, officials have said.
