Two Arrested in South Whitehall for Allegedly Stealing from CVS on Three Different Days

South Whitehall Police arrested two men -- one wearing two pairs of pants to conceal items -- for allegedly stealing almost $900 worth of merchandise from CVS at 3023 Tilghman St. on three separate occasions.

On Nov. 16 at 4:37 p.m., police report that a CVS employee called to report shoplifting in progress and when an officer arrived, Javier Rivera-Mojica, 36, with an unknown address, was seen leaving the CVS and attempting to get inside a white Chevy pickup truck.

In police reports, the driver of the truck was identified as German Rodriguez Colon, 28, of 1029 W. Liberty St., Allentown.

Police said that as the arresting officer approached the vehicle, Rivera-Mojica fled and was caught by the officer. Colon refused commands to stop and walked back into CVS. 

Rivera-Mojica was searched and police found a Bic Hybrid Disposable razor that he allegedly stole from CVS. He was reportedly wearing two pairs of pants and the inside pair was tied at the ankles with red twine in order to conceal stolen merchandise.

The report said that inside the white Chevy in plain view was the same red twine with a box cutter and scissors on the front seat.

Both men were "100 percent identified" by the CVS store manager as the same men who were suspected of previously stealing merchandise on Nov. 13 and 14. In all, the men were suspected of stealing the following:

Two 7” Swivel Notebooks valued at $99.99 each; three CG Android Tablets valued at $99.99 each; one Kodak camera valued at $49.99; one Kodak camera valued at $79.99; batteries valued at $9; one 16GB flash card valued at $35.79; one Kodak camera valued at $49.99; one Kodak/Fuji camera valued at $79.99; a digital camera valued at $19.99, and a Bic Hybrid Razor valued at $8.49.

According to probable cause affidavit, each man was charged with three counts of retail theft and three counts of conspiracy to commit retail theft. District Judge Jacob Hammond set bail at $12,000 each.
