Independence Day falls on Thursday this year.

Here is what's closed:

South Whitehall Township municipal offices. No trash pickup Thursday; trash will be picked up one day later.

State offices, including PennDOT driver's license and photo centers. (Driver and vehicle online services are available. www.dmv.state.pa.us

Federal offices 

Post offices, and no mail pickup or delivery. Express Mail will be delivered.

Pennsylvania Liquor stores

Banks (Most are closed.) 

Also on Thursday:

Retail: Many, but not all, retail and entertainment establishments are open. 

(In South Whitehall, for example C. Leslie Smith silversmith shop and Vogt Jewelers will be closed. However, Giant supermarket at the Village West shopping Center and Target on Cedar Crest Boulevard will be open.)
